Ardbeg Corryvreckan is named after Europe’s largest whirlpool which lies off the coast of Islay and is celebrated in Celtic mystery and legend. Predominately matured in French oak casks on Islay, Corryvreckan's character is deep and perplexing with teasing, spicy, sumptuous fruity notes. Torrents of tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil rise from the deep. A collision of waxy dark chocolate, warm blackcurrants and muscovado sugar pulls you in and bursts of plump cherries and earthy pine needles leap forth. Add water and gutsy cayenne-peppered steak and oysters smothered in hot pepper sauce emerge. Salty seasoning brings brine with crisp seaweed and smoky bacon swirling around with hints of sweet vanilla, spicy cloves and blueberries. Menthol, treacle and chilli sauce finish.
